The Lavoisier Revolution: Some Philosophical Aspects
M. Akeroyd
The 'Chemical Revolution' initiated by Antoine Lavoisier has fascinated chemical historians and philosophers of science for over two hundred years. The author analyses this event from the perspective of the four major philosophers Kuhn, Popper, Lakatos and Feyerabend, concluding that, if one is selective, various aspects support the position of all four philosophers. The overall conclusion is that 'there is no overall conclusion'.
